Glüh Wein

Glüh Wein (deliberately written with a space) is designed as an alternative to the conventional and widely available mulled wine products found in supermarkets. Typically, the food industry uses the cheapest possible wine for this and mixes it with a questionable amount of sugar and as few real spices as possible. Instead, artificially produced flavors are often added to mask the poor quality of the individual ingredients. Unfortunately, these tricks do not have to be listed on the label, as these are alcoholic mixed drinks.

My version of this festive wine is all about transparency and high-quality ingredients. The wine is an excellent German Merlot, which is perfectly suited for blending with other aromatics. Other ingredients include raw cane sugar, orange peel, freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly squeezed lime juice, dark rum, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and star anise.

A special treat for the cold season!
